FIT4VIRTUALIZATION - Implementation Service

Introduction

Freestyle IT believe that the way to a successful virtualization implementation within the enterprise is via careful planning and methodical testing. Each implementation plan is individually tailored. It is a process that is founded on the detailed Proof of Concept service that replicates the target applications to a virtual environment and ensures they offer at least the same level of functionality and performance to the end user, whilst providing reductions in cost and management/support of the infrastructure.

  1. Prerequisites

The implementation process is built on the foundation of the Freestyle IT Proof of Concept Service. This should be completed along with a small scale pilot deployment before full implementation is undertaken.

The Process

A design workshop to review the output of the Proof of Concept and agree the project plans for the full implementation, including software and server requirements and any storage and high availability options, plus additional complimentary software such as connection brokers which will be required. The project plan will define which tasks are undertaken by Freestyle IT’s Certified Professional consultants and which are undertaken by the customer. It will also include timelines for project delivery.

Implementation Deliverables

The implementation process will deliver the following basic components. Each customer will have a customised and detailed implementation plan based on their individual requirements:

  • ServersA detailed implementation project plan and scope of work using information from the Proof of Concept and Planning Workshop.
  • Supply, install and configuration of all hardware components (server/SAN/network/clients/software etc.).
  • A set of applications migrated from physical to virtual or vanilla installs depending on individual customer requirements.
  • Complete testing and verification of applications, virtual machines and brokers (VDI) and all other infrastructure components.
  • Installation and configuration of any agreed disaster recovery and business continuity options plus documented procedures.
  • Customised systems and administration training to the customer, delivered by Freestyle IT’s Certified Professional Services Consultants on the chosen virtualization platform and associated management software.
  • Detailed configuration documentation.

What can Freestyle IT offer?

  • A reduction in hardware acquisition costs, data centre space, power requirements and lower support costs.
  • Consolidation of idle systems resources, freeing up capacity for new projects and applications.
  • Increased operational efficiency with a unified server management interface with browser based remote access and a centralised desktop infrastructure, reducing desk side support.
